Nokia launches super-tough XR21 smartphone that can handle anything

Nokia has released the XR21 – which could be one of the world’s toughest smartphones. The device is drop, dust and waterproof and even has a two-day battery life.

It is ideal for customers who have a fear they might drop and break their phone and perfect for those who work and play in the great outdoors.

According to Nokia’s research, 62 per cent of Australians have dropped their phone and smashed the screen.

And we put up with a smashed phone screen for up to four months before we decide to get it fixed.

Naturally, 74 per cent of Australians say our phones should be stronger and last longer.

The Nokia XR21 is made from 100 per cent recycled aluminium.

It has been certified for MIL-STD 810H military-grade durability which can withstand or drop from a height of 1.8m.

The device also includes Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for the display and has an impact proof back cover.

The Nokia XR21 can also be submerged in 1.5m of water for up to an hour and can even withstand the same pressure as a 1450psi jet of water with the water temperature of 80 degrees Celsius.

That sounds like you could take this phone into a spa.

The phone can handle temperatures between minus 20 degrees Celsius up to a scorching 55 degrees Celsius.

That high temperature is actually one degree short of the hottest temperature recorded on earth in California’s Death Valley.

The Nokia XR21 has a 6.49-inch screen that can be used with wet hands and in the rain and even while wearing gloves.

On the camera side, the Nokia XR21 has a dual lens system with AI-powered imaging features including AI Portrait, Night Mode 2.0 and Flash Shot.

The device also has 96 decibels stereo speakers with Audio Boost Mode, but you can easily hear your sounds over background noise.

And Nokia says the battery, which is also part of the durability story, will last for two days.

Customers will receive four years of monthly security updates and three years of OS upgrades.

The Nokia XR21 comes with a three year warranty and a one-year screen replacement guarantee.

The Nokia XR21 will be available in mid-May in Midnight Black and Pine Green from JB Hi-Fi and will be priced at $799.
