Telstra releases Smart Wi-Fi Booster to improve your wireless home network

Telstra has released a new Smart Wi-Fi Booster that allows customers to improve their wireless coverage and extend their connections to the black spots in their home.

Australians don’t always get perfect wireless coverage due to the size and shape of their homes.

And with the growing number of wireless devices in our home, this poses a real issue for customers.

With the Telstra Smart Wi-Fi Booster, users now have the ability to create a stronger network no matter where in their house they are connecting.

The device, available exclusively for Telstra customers, works with Telstra’s broadband modems.

Users can configure up to four wi-fi boosters in their home and still have just one wi-fi network name.

When multiple boosters are being used, they offer a seamless connection to the strongest Wi-Fi booster even if you are moving about the house.

The units also work in conjunction with the Telstra Home Dashboard app which can guide you through the set-up process.

“With the NBN now available to more than six million homes and businesses, and the rise of connected devices being used within Australian homes, our customers expect to be able to get online in any area of their property including their yards, garages and even bungalows,” said Jana Kotatko, head of fixed products at Telstra.

“But for larger homes with three or more bedrooms or multiple floors, often a single wi-fi modem isn’t enough.

“The Smart Wi-Fi Booster essentially acts like a second modem, so if you’re browsing the web or making a call over wi-fi while moving around the house, it will automatically switch to the stronger wi-fi signal.”

Before the launch of the Telstra Smart Wi-Fi Booster, the company conducted extensive trials in 100 homes and found participants saw a noticeable improvement in their wi-fi speeds and coverage.

The Telstra Smart Wi-Fi Booster is available now for $180 outright or $7.50 a month over 24 months.
