Microsoft unveils its latest hardware – the Surface Laptop Studio 2 and Surface Laptop Go 3

Microsoft has unveiled its two latest Surface laptops – the Surface Laptop Studio 2 and the Surface Laptop Go 3 – which will provide power and performance to boost your creativity and productivity anywhere.

The two new Surface products were revealed at the Microsoft event in New York City where CEO Satya Nadella outlined the company’s ambitions AI plans including the new Copilot that will become part of Windows 11 and the Microsoft 365 suits of applications.

Naturally these new Microsoft products will allow customers to take advantage of the Copilot AI features across the entire Windows 11 system and online with Bing Chat.

SURFACE LAPTOP STUDIO 2

The new Surface Laptop Studio 2 has an adjustable 14.4-inch display that can be used like a regular laptop or adjusted so the screen can cover the keyboard to view content of folded down flat so users can interact with the screen by touch and to write and draw on the screen with the Slim Pen 2.

The Surface Laptop Studio 2 is powered by the 13^th Gen Intel Core i7-3700H processor built in the Intel Evo platform and the Intel Iris Xe Graphics.

There is 16GB RAM and can be configured at up to 64GB and a removeable 512GB solid state drive.

It is twice as fast as its predecessor.

To demonstrate its power, Microsoft put the Surface Laptop Studio 2 up against the MacBook Pro with M2 Max to render a graphic.

The Surface Laptop Studio 2 completed the task in 37.4 seconds while the MacBook Pro took almost twice as long and finished in 1m 12.9s

The Surface Laptop Studio 2 has a 14.4-inch PixelSense Flow Display with a resolution of 2400 x 1600 (200 pixels per inch) with 3:2 aspect ratio and a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz.

The LED screen is now VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified to offer even richer video and supports Dolby Vision IQ.

The Surface Laptop Studio 2 features a Surface Precision Haptic touchpad with adjustable click sensitivity.

On the audio side, the Surface Laptop Studio 2 has Quad Omnisonic speakers with Dolby Atmos along with Dual Studio Mics with Voice Clarity for even clearer conversations.

Connectivity-wise, there are two USB-C ports with USB4/Thunderbolt 4 (with Thunderbolt and Power Delivery), a USB-A 3.1 port, 3.5mm headphones jack and the Surface Connect port.

There’s also a memory card slot for microSD cards.

And when it comes to wireless connectivity, the Surface Laptop Studio 2 is Wi-Fi 6E compatible and has Bluetooth 5.3 onboard.

The Surface Laptop Studio 2 will be running Windows 11 Home and is preloaded with the Microsoft 365 apps.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 will be available from October 3 and will start at $US1,999. Australian pricing is yet to be announced.

SURFACE LAPTOP GO 3

The Surface Laptop Go 3 is a lightweight yet powerful laptop that’s available in four colours – ice blue, sage, sandstone and platinum.

It has a 12.4-inch PixelSense touchscreen with resolution of 1536 x 1024 (148 pixels per inch) and a 3:2 ratio which is the right shape to offer the most vertical screen space to help users get more done and access more information.

The Surface Laptop Go 3, which weighs in at just 1.1kg, is powered by the 12^th Gen Intel Core i5 processor and offers up to 15 hours of battery life with fast charging.

On the connectivity side, the Surface Laptop Go 3 has a USB-C 3.2 port, USB-A 3.1 port, 3.5mm headphone jack and the Surface Connect port.

It has dual Omnisonic Speakers with Dolby Audio Premium and dual far-field Studio Mics with Voice Clarity.

The Surface Laptop Go 3 goes on sale on October 3 and will be priced from $US799.99. Australia will be announced closer to the release date.
