If Nokia’s new G42 5G smartphone needs repairing you can do it yourself

Nokia has released G42 – it’s the first sub-$450 5G smartphone that you can repair yourself if you need to even though it has an industry-leading 3-year warranty.

Priced at $449, the Nokia G42 has been released in collaboration with iFixit which offer repair guides and part so customers can repair or replace the screen, the battery and the charging port if they have any issues.

The Nokia G42 is running Android 13 and has a 6.56-inch HD+ display plus a standout colour that’s so purple it’s called So Purple.

It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ 5G Mobile Platform with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 1TB through the microSD card slot

On the camera side, the G42 has a 50-megapixel main camera, 2-megapixel depth camera and 2-megapixel macro camera and offers Portrait Mode and Night Mode.

The smartphone includes OZO 3D audio capture so your videos will sound even better.

Nokia says the onboard 5000mAh battery offers up to three days of usage with the battery built to retain 80 per cent of its original capacity after 800 charging cycles – that adds up to four years of charges.
