Garmin launches new Approach G7 and G8 golf GPS devices

approachgarmin3Garmin has released new golf GPS devices that include all-new features that can help you lower your score and also keep up to date with emails and messages.

The Garmin Approach G7 and Approach G8 come preloaded with more than 30,000 courses from around the world and can now offer more accurate club selection with the new PlaysLike Distance feature.

Also on board the devices is Smart Notifications for the players who’d prefer to leave their smartphone in their golf bag but still want to keep track of their emails, text and call alerts.

The Approach G7 and G8 have a new measurement feature called PlaysLike Distance that can adjust shot distances for uphill and downhill shots.

Another new feature is Big Numbers mode so players can easily see the distances and other information from a distance rather than having to get close to the product or put on reading glasses.

The Approach G7 and G8 can also give iPhone users smart notifications on the golf device’s screen like emails, texts and calls.

This way players can see at a glance if there are any urgent messages or calls that need to addressed. It works with the iPhone 4S or later.

The beauty of having preloaded courses means there are no extra subscription costs or data fees.

Of course the G7 and G8 provide precise measurements on the golf course so players can have accurate distances to the front, middle and back of the green along with layup and dogleg distances.

Green View really lives up to its name and makes it easy for players zero in on a map of the green and manually position the pin to reflect the placement of the hole for that day.

The touch targeting system means you can also touch any point on the display to get accurate distances no matter where it is – the fairway, the rough, a hazard, a landing area or on the green.

The Approach G7 and G8 can even keep track of your score whether you’re playing stroke play, stableford, skins or match play.

These devices work with Garmin Connect so users can upload the information from their G7 or G8 and analyse and share their scorecards.

The Garmin Approach G8 has a larger 3-inch screen and built-in wi-fi

The data includes the number of fairways hit, greens in regulation, shot distance the number of putts. It is this hole-by-hole information that can really help to improve your game.

The Approach G8 has a few added features including a larger 3-inch screen (the G7 has a 2.6-inch screen) and blind spot assistance to give players the right direction to play their shot to the green if they can’t actually see it.

Approach G8 also has built-in wi-fi connectivity to make it even easier to update the onboard information.

Both the Approach G7 and G8 are also IPX7 water resistant so they can handle all weather conditions on the golf course.

The Garmin Approach G7 and G8 are available now and priced at $379 and $499 respectively.
