Apple has unveiled a new and improved version of the popular HomePod

Apple has released HomePod (2nd Generation) – a revamped version of the original HomePod with improved acoustics and next-level audio quality to support Spatial Audio and the intelligence to control your smart home products.

“Leveraging our audio expertise and innovations, the new HomePod delivers rich, deep bass, natural mid-range, and clear, detailed highs,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

“With the popularity of HomePod mini, we’ve seen growing interest in even more powerful acoustics achievable in a larger HomePod. We’re thrilled to bring the next generation of HomePod to customers around the world.”

The new HomePod, which goes on sale on February 3, is wrapped in acoustic mesh fabric with a backlight touchscreen on top of the unit that now illuminates edge to edge.

Under the hood is where the magic happens with a custom engineered excursion woofer and a powerful motor that drives the diaphragm 20mm.

It also has a beamforming array of five tweeters along the base to complete the picture while the S7 chip comes together with the software and the most advanced computational audio that brings out the speaker’s true potential.

The new HomePod also has technology that can optimise the sound to suit your room and surroundings.

It’s also possible to put two HomePods together to create a stereo pair.

HomePod can also pair with Apple TV 4K to add better sound to your viewing experience.

The new HomePod (2nd Generation) will be priced at $479 and will be available in Australia on February 3.
