New Bowers & Wilkins Px8 wireless noise cancelling headphones set a new standard

Bowers & Wilkins has launched its new Px8 flagship wireless headphones which set a new reference standard for sound and build quality in the active noise cancelling wireless headphone market.

The Px8 headphones have an all-new bespoke, ultra-high resolution carbon cones which are angled within each ear cup to offer lower distortion and reference quality audio resolution.

The headphones are made from premium materials and includes diecast aluminium, diamond cut bright metal detailing as well as Nappa leather on the earcups and headband.

The Bowers & Wilkins Px8 has the same active noise cancelling wireless platform of the Px7 S2 but hits new heights of detail, resolution and scale thanks to the 40 mm carbon cone drive units.

These cones are inspired by the units used in the Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series loudspeaker range which offer the ultimate combination of ultrafast response plus low distortion throughout the frequency range.

As a result the quality and detail take the standard set by the Px7 S2 to even greater heights and delivers closer than ever the true sound that the artist intended.

There are two finishes for the Px8 – black leather or tan leather.

Under the hood, the Px8 uses Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive wireless technology to create the best connection and quality from compatible smartphones tablets and computers.

There are also six high performance microphones that work together to measure the output of each driver unit, two to react to ambient noise and two to supply voice clarity with enhanced noise suppression.

On the ear cup are physical controls so you can navigate your music without touching your device.

On the battery side, the Bowers & Wilkins Px8 provide 30 hours of playback on a full charge while a 15-minute quick recharge will give you enough power to listen to seven hours of music.

To coincide with the launch of the Px8 headphones, Bowers & Wilkins will also upgrade the Music app.

Px8 users will be able to stream their chosen music services through the app from their smartphone to their headphones with support for Deezer, Quboz and Tidal.

“I’m thrilled that today, we’re transforming customer expectations in the premium headphone category with our new Px8,” says Giles Pocock, Bowers & Wilkins Vice-President of Brand Marketing.

“It perfectly encapsulates everything we stand for as a brand, with outstanding sound quality that properly reflects our True Sound promise, plus unrivalled design and finishes.”

The premium Bowers & Wilkins Px8 headphones will go on sale in October and will be priced at $1,149.
