Samsung unveils new Q Series 9.1.4-channel Dolby Atmos soundbar

Samsung has announced its latest flagship 2020 Q Series soundbars which can provide the ultimate home entertainment audio experience with the maximum number of channels for a home theatre system.

The new premium soundbar models are the HW-Q950T and the HW-Q900T which both support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X as well as eARC (audio return channel) support for high quality surround sound like Dolby TrueHD.

The HW-Q950T soundbar supports 9.1.4 channels – the most you’ll find in a home theatre soundbar system – and also adds left and right wide channel speakers to express the motion on the screen and immerse the viewer even further.

This system also includes two wireless rear up-firing speakers.

The HW-Q900T is a 7.1.2 channel system that also offers Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD.

And when connected to the 2020 Samsung QLED TVs, the soundbars sync with the TV through Q Symphony to play surround sound from both the TV and the soundbar to create an amazing soundscape.

On the design side, both new soundbars have been revamped and wrapped in Kvadrat textile fabric to offer a more elegant and premium look.

The height of the new Samsung soundbars have also been reduced to just 69.5mm so they can fit perfectly below the TV screen.

“Samsung collaborated with the U.S Audio Lab to develop multi-dimensional surround sound that could be more readily enjoyed by consumers at home, which was previously only possible with a separate, expensive home-theatre system,” said Seong Cho, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Product Marketing of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

“In addition to improving sound quality, we also focused on fine-tuning the soundbar’s design aesthetic by using eco-friendly textiles, made by the Danish premium brand Kvadrat.”

The two new soundbars also feature SmartThings and Alexa voice control so users can use their voice to access services like Amazon Music, Spotify, TuneIn and iHeart Radio.

The new Samsung Q Series soundbars will go on sale in mid-July.
