Suunto’s latest GPS sport watch – the Suunto 5 Peak – is lighter and cheaper

Suunto has followed up on the success of the Suunto 9 Peak with the launch of a lighter and cheaper model – the Suunto 5 Peak GPS sport watch.

Suunto is a Finnish brand which is popular with outdoor fitness lovers who want a light, durable and long-lasting companion to help them reach their fitness goals.

The Suunto 5 Peak is priced under $500 and is a significant upgrade to the previous version.

The new watch is 41 per cent lighter and offers up to 100 hours of battery life.

It also incorporates Suunto’s new design along with a selection of easily changeable straps.

The Suunto 5 Peak was manufactured in Finland with 100 per cent renewable, carbon neutral energy.

“The introduction of the Suunto 5 Peak builds on our ever-growing portfolio of sport watches available to Australian consumers and brings some of our key performance tracking features into a sub $500 GPS Sport watch for the first time,” said Damian Commane, Head of Suunto ANZ.

“Our new design makes it more visually appealing than ever before, and consumers can have peace of mind that as they explore the beauty of the world around them, they are wearing a watch that is made from 100 per cent renewable energy from a company committed to sustainability.”

The Suunto designers, based in Helsinki, created the device for people who love exploring the outdoors and who are committed to reaching their personal fitness goals.

And with GPS onboard the Suunto 5 Peak is ideal for running, hiking, walking, cycling or trail running and includes turn by turn navigation with the ability to follow a return route without fear of getting lost or straying from the path.

The watch also has a sunrise and sunset alarm so users know exactly how much daylight they have to work with.

With its heat and 3D maps, it’s easy to discover popular routes, and plan their own before transferring them to the watch for a turn-by-turn navigated adventure.

The Suunto 5 Peak is water resistant up to 30 m and has a durable stainless-steel bezel and polyamide lens.

Suunto 5 Peak is priced at $499 and is available now.
