DJI unveils two new Mavic 2 drones with enhanced cameras

DJI has introduced two new Mavic 2 drones which have been significantly updated with breakthrough new technology that will open up a whole new world of possibilities for drone photographers.

The two new Mavic 2 drones – the Mavic 2 Zoom and the Mavic 2 Pro – have up to 31 minutes flight time and omnidirectional obstacle sensing.

And like the previous Mavic, the drone folds down to the size of a water bottle – 8.4cm high, 21.4cm long and 9.1cm wide.

Onboard is an all-new digital video transmission system to allow for up to 8km range for 1080p live video transmission.

It also has the longest flight time for a consumer drone at 31 minutes with a maximum speed of 72km/h in sport mode.

Also onboard is a 3-axis gimbal for smooth and stable footage in all conditions.

The imaging system on the Mavic 2 Pro includes a Hasselblad camera which are well known for their quality, precision and craftsmanship.

It includes the Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution to capture stunning 20-megapixel images and videos.

The new 1-inch CMOS sensor is four times larger than the sensor onboard the original Mavic Pro for better dynamic range, signal to noise ratio and low-light performance.

The Mavic 2 Pro also supports 10-bit HDR video and has an adjustable f2.8-f11 aperture to handle different light conditions.

The Mavic 2 Zoom has a 24-48mm Optical Zoom Camera powered by a 12-megapixel sensor with up to four-times zoom.

Pilots will also find autofocus on the Mavic 2 Zoom so it focuses up to 40 per cent faster.

Dolly Zoom is a new QuickShot feature which creates a stunning visual effect to allow to be even more creative with your photography.
It can also take 48-megapixel super resolution photos by stitching nine photos with its telephoto lens.

One new feature for both of the new drones is Hyperlapse – a new way to create time lapse videos while you’re flying in one of four modes – circle, free, courselock and waypoint.

The new Mavic 2 Pro is priced at $2,299 and the Mavic 2 Zoom is $1,999 and both are available now.
