New PlayStation Plus games subscription service launches in Australia

PlayStation Australia today launched its new PlayStation Plus game subscription service to provide access to some of the latest games and classics from the PlayStation back catalogue.

Users will be able to access the same features including online multiplayer access, discounts and cloud storage.

But now they can also access up to 400 PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games including feature titles from PlayStation Studios and third publishers.

There are three tiers to PlayStation Plus – PlayStation Plus Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Deluxe.

“The global launch of the all-new PlayStation Plus represents a massive evolution of our game subscription service offering, and we are pleased that fans worldwide can now enjoy hundreds of fantastic games available in the PlayStation Plus catalogue,” said Jim Ryan, President and CEO, Sony Interactive Entertainment.

“The high calibre of content is what sets PlayStation Plus apart, and the service will continue to grow with new monthly game offerings that include some of our most celebrated titles on PlayStation platforms.

Here are the different tiers of the new PlayStation Plus

PLAYSTATION PLUS ESSENTIAL

– Benefits: Provides the same benefits that PlayStation Plus members are getting today, such as PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation 5 (PS5) monthly games, online multiplayer access, exclusive discounts, cloud storage and more. There are no changes for existing PlayStation Plus members in this plan and pricing remains the same.

– Price: $11.95 monthly / $33.95 quarterly / $79.95 yearly

PLAYSTATION PLUS ESSENTIAL
– Benefits: Provides all the benefits from the Essential plan and adds a catalogue of up to 400* of the most enjoyable PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PlayStation 5 (PS5) games – including blockbuster hits from our PlayStation Studios catalogue and third-party partners. Games in the Extra plan are downloadable for play.

– Price: $18.95 monthly / $54.95 quarterly / $134.95 yearly

PLAYSTATION PLUS DELUXE
– Benefits: Provides all the benefits from Essential and Extra plans and adds additional games, including:

– A catalogue of beloved classic games from the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2 (PS2), and PlayStation Portable (PSP) generation.

– Time-limited game trials are also offered in this plan, so customers can try select games before they buy.

Price: $21.95 monthly / $63.95 quarterly / $154.95 yearly

The catalogue will include titles from PlayStation Studios developers like Insomniac Games and Naughty Dog and third-party developers like Rockstar Games, Square Enix, WB Games.

From launch the PlayStation Plus game catalogue will include Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, Marvel’s Guardian of the Galaxy, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, NBA 2K22, and Red Dead Redemption 2.
