Modern technology gives us many things.

Seagate’s new storage devices provide the ultimate back-up

backupthumbSeagate’s new range of storage devices provide an easy way to back up our digital files with one-click ease and is the world’s first to be able back up your Facebook content as well.

The Backup Plus external hard drives are also designed to be interchangeable with both Windows and Mac computers so it’s even easier to store and display your files no matter which system they came from.

The range includes Backup Plus portable drives, Backup Plus desktop drives and the Slim portable drive.

Also included with the range is Seagate’s Dashboard software to make it easier to manage local back-ups.

The Dashboard gives users two options – a set and forget all-in-one back-up solution or a customised back up plan to protect certain files.

But not only is the content we value on our computers, it is also located on social networking sites like Facebook.

Seagate's new storage devices provide a simple back up solution

Seagate’s new Backup storage devices are the first to offer a back up of this content that has been shared on Facebook.

Now backing up the videos and pictures shared on sites like Facebook and Flickr is as easy as backing up the files on your computer’s hard drive.

The Seagate drives also include USM compliance which means the interface is able to take advantage of the latest and fastest connections including Firewire, USB 3.0 and the more recent Thunderbolt technology.

The amount of digital content we’re creating, sharing and storing has highlighted the need to protect that content with external backups.

Seagate’s own research shows some interesting back-up behaviour from Australian users.

The Seagate Backup Plus portable family of storage devices

Today 78 per cent of Australians use a home PC or laptop to store photos and videos yet 69 per cent admitted they don’t regularly back up their content.

In fact an alarming 13 per cent have never backed up their devices.

So it’s no wonder that 33 per cent have lost documents, 31 per cent have lost files, 30 per cent have lost photos and 18 per cent have lost videos.

On the mobile side, 77 per cent of Australians did not regularly back up the content they have on their tablets or mobiles and 40 per cent have never backed up these devices.
