Apple reveals the top apps of all time

Following its milestone of 25 billion app downloads, Apple has revealed the most popular paid and free apps of all time on the iPhone and the iPad from the Australian App Store.

Angry Birds was the top paid app on the iPhone with Facebook taking the title as the top free app.

On the iPad, Apple’s own Pages app was the most popular paid app while Skype for iPad was at the top of the list of free apps.

Interestingly 18 of the top 25 iPhone paid apps were games. On the iPad 14 of the top 25 paid apps were games.

In the free apps only nine of the top 25 iPhone apps were games. On the iPad this figure is seven out of 25.

Other categories in the paid iPhone apps top 25 were social networking (1), music (1), health and fitness (1), photo and video (2), entertainment (2) and weather (1) .

In the free iPhone top 25 we have social networking (6), lifestyle (1), utilities (2), music (1), reference (1) and entertainment (1)

In the paid iPad top 25 the other non-game categories include productivity (5), business (1), music (2), weather (1), education (1) and social networking (1).

The categories in the iPad free top 25 include social networking (4), utilities (1), productivity (1), lifestyle (2), weather (1), travel (2), books (1), finance (1), news (2) and reference (1).
