Modern technology gives us many things.

Now you can take a break from your messages and notifications with Optus Pause

Ever wished you could take a break from all your emails and notifications? If you’re an Optus customer that’s exactly what you can do with the new Optus Pause for Optus broadband and mobile customers.

This Australian-first innovation is free and exclusive to Optus customers and gives them the option of pausing connectivity to some or all their devices connected via the internet or mobile network.

Optus Pause is for customers who want to choose a period of time when they just don’t want to be disturbed whether it’s dinner time, if you’re watching a movie or catching a show or you just want a break from your calls, messages and emails.

The service is available to Optus customers on selected postpaid, prepaid and home internet plans.

“As a technology company, we know the positive role that connectivity plays in the everyday lives of Australians, but we also understand that sometimes our love of staying connected 24/7 can create distractions for ourselves, our families, our friends, our work colleagues,” says Optus vice president of TV, content and product development Clive Dickens.

“Optus Pause empowers our customers to balance their connected time so a face to face business meeting can be social-media-update-free or family dinner time can be about the conversation not missed snaps, or sleep time can be absent ‘pings’.”

Optus Pause can be accessed through the My Optus app which offers a one-click solution to pause all connections or nominate the individual devices they would like to be paused.

From the app, Optus customers can choose which devices to keep connected and which to pause with the ability to set a timer for the devices to reconnect automatically.

“Optus is pioneering digital and customer innovation through a ‘one click’ solution that works across mobile and home wi-fi connections; across Optus connected services and all devices connected via wi-fi on Optus NBN plans with the latest Optus supplied modems, on the same account and household,” Dickens said.
“Optus Pause customers can set a timer for how long they would like to pause their connectivity and on what device, or devices, and if they decide to re-connect earlier.

“It’s manageable at a press of a button so best of all, it’s quick, easy and free to use.

“We’ve listened to our customers who’ve asked us to develop a product that gave them a right to disconnect.

“We are delighted we can now bring you real family dinnertime or moments of peace and quiet for reflection – If that’s what you want!”
Optus Pause will be available to eligible customers in a phased approach rolling out from today.
