Sony showcases new PlayStation games at E3

It’s all about the games – that was the message coming loud and clear from Sony PlayStation’s press conference to kick off the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles.

There were a number of title announcements for the PlayStation 3 and the powerful portable PS Vita console.

These included Wonderbook: Book of Spells, Beyond: Two Souls – both for PS3 and Assassin’s Creed Liberation and Call of Duty: Black Ops Unclassified for the PS Vita.

The PlayStation E3 press conference also showed off live gameplay demos of upcoming titles The Last of Us, from Naughty Dog – creators of the Uncharted trilogy- and God of War: Ascension.

Wonderbook of Spells has been created in collaboration with Harry Potter author JK Rowling and is an augmented reality game with the PlayStation Move controller becoming your magic wand.

Players can read and learn the secrets of wizardry and the art of spell casting just like a student of Hogwarts.

Beyond: Two Souls is from the acclaimed creators of plot-driven game Heavy Rain and stars Ellen Page – the Oscar nominated actress from the film Juno. It is about a young girl (Page) who can communicate with the dead.

Assassin’s Creed Liberation for the portable PS Vita will introduce the hugely popular franchise’s first female assassin.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Unclassified is another first person shooter based on the record-breaking franchise which will allow players to the action on the go with the PS Vita.

The Last of Us, a tale of a world where almost every human in Earth has been wiped out by a plague apart fro pockets full of people fighting to stay alive amid mutants and killers.

The first live gameplay demo was show at the PlayStation E3 press conference along with God of War: Ascension – the latest in the God of War franchise which allow players to unleash their god-like powers.
