Apple has issued a software update today to address a bug that may cause the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to run warmer than usual.
Apple confirmed last week the issue was affecting some customers.
The issue was caused by third-party apps, including Instagram and Uber, working in the background and overloading the system which causes the elevated operating temperature.
To run the update, go to Settings > General > Software Update and you’ll see iOS 17.0.3.
Users will have the choice to run the update immediately or run overnight.
The notes of the update says: This update provides important bug fixes, security updates and addresses an issue that may cause iPhone to run warmer than expected.”
When the issues surfaced last week, Apple released a statement to confirm the bug: “We have identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected.
“The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setting up or restoring the device because of increased background activity.
“We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that is impacting some users and will be addressed in a software update.
“Another issue involves some recent updates to third-party apps that are causing them to overload the system.
“We’re working with these app developers on fixes that are in the process of rolling out.”
