Virgin Mobile offering more value in new broadband plans

virginmobilethumbVirgin Mobile has responded to research showing 75 per cent of Australians are disappointed with their mobile broadband plans by unveiling a range of new options.

And the focus of these new plans is to offer even more value with plans starting for as little as $19 a month.

The Virgin Mobile PostPaid mobile broadband plans include either a USB modem, which is connected directly to your laptop, or a wi-fi modem which creates a wireless connection for you and up to seven other users.

Plans are all only 12-months and start at $19 which includes the modem ($7 extra per month for the wi-fi modem on this plan) and 1.5GB of data per month.

The plans move up to $29 (4GB), $39 (10GB), $49 (12GB) and $59 (14GB) with $0 for either the USB or wi-fi modem.

Virgin is also offering 5 months for half price on the $29 and $49 plans if they are ordered online.

No matter which plan you choose there are no excess data charges if you go over your monthly data allowance.

Virgin Mobile offers coverage across the Optus network.

What makes it easier for customers is the fact that Virgin Mobile charges per kilobyte and not per megabyte so you won’t be paying for data you don’t use.

“Aussies have been calling out for better value mobile broadband plans and we’re pleased to be able to deliver outstanding value,” said Virgin Mobile marketing director, David Scribner.

There is also a range of plans with no lock-in contract for those who already have their own modem or 3G iPad.

These start at $14 a month for 1GB of data and move up to $19 (1.5GB), $29 (4GB), $39 (10GB), $49 (12GB) and $59 (14GB).

Virgin Mobile’s reserach was conducted by Catalyst Consultancy and Research in May last year among about 700 users with more than 75 per cent unhappy with their current mobile broadband plans.
