Samsung releases first 4G tablet through Telstra

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab 8.9 – Australia first 4G tablet which will operate on Telstra’s new high speed network.

The device has an 8.9-inch high definition (1280 x 800) touchscreen, a 1.5Ghz dual core processor and weighs just 470g.

With 4G connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy Tab can achieve download speeds of up to 40Mbps in 4G coverage areas which cover capital cities and more than 80 major regional centres.

The Galaxy Tab 8.9 includes access to entertainment, productivity and content services which include Samsung Music Hub and Samsung Readers Hub.

Users can also set up their Social Hub which will gather all of your social networking feeds into one place.

Running Android 3.2 operating system, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 has 16GB of storage with a 32GB version to be released in the coming weeks.

The device also incorporates a front (2 megapixel) and rear (3 megapixel) camera.

Telstra Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 plans

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is priced at $720 or purchased on a Telstra plan starting at $49 a month on a two year contract which includes 1GB of data.

The 32GB Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be priced at $840.
