Logitech MX Vertical review – the ergonomic mouse that reduces strain and fatigue

The Logitech MX Vertical will change the way you use your mouse for the better. It does take some adjustment but the long term result for users who spent a lot of time on their computer will be high productivity but with less strain and fatigue.

The computer mouse has been around for a long time and it basically remained the same for decades. Logitech has released a new ergonomic mouse called MX Vertical that’s designed to reduce forearm strain and wrist pressure.

When you consider how your hand rests flat on a regular mouse it does place your wrist in a slightly exaggerated position that’s twisted around slightly from its natural resting position.

And the flow on effect of that, especially when using the mouse for hours at a time, is that your forearm gets tired and strained.

The Logitech MX Vertical is built at a 57-degree vertical angle to provide an ergonomic posture for your hand and forearm.

When you rest your hand on the Vertical MX your arm is rotated more to the right and rests in a more natural angle.

Your hand sits in a handshake position with the angled mouse reducing muscular activity in the forearm by 10 per cent when compared to a regular mouse.

On the functionality side, the MX Vertical still puts everything at your fingertips including left and right buttons, a scroll wheel and three other programmable buttons that are all within easy reach of your thumb

It did take some getting used to for our review but after a while muscle memory kicked in and the same fingers we used for left and right clicking and scrolling were used with the MX Vertical but now just at a different and more comfortable angle.

The device’s comfort form is a one size fits all proposition and can fit numerous hand shapes and sizes.

On the thumb side, there is a textured rubber surface and a place to rest your thumb so you’ve got a solid grip.

The MX Vertical is much larger than a normal mouse thanks to its angled design and is also a lot taller.

It was so tall that when we were using the Logitech MX Vertical with our desktop and laptop computers and need to move our hand to grab something on the desk we would clip the top of the mouse and sometimes knock it over.

That also is something we needed to get used to.

The MX Vertical has a 4000-DPI high precision sensor onboard so you can still be quite accurate with four times less hand movement which also contributes to reducing fatigue.

There is also a speed switch that allows users to adjust DPI speed and accuracy of your cursor.

The MX Vertical has a built-in rechargeable battery that can be charged from the USB-C port at the front.

And you won’t need to worry about running out of power – a full charge will last up to four months.

Even charging the mouse for a minute will provide three hours of use.
