Modern technology gives us many things.

NortonLifeLock will now be called Gen after merger with Avast

Leading internet security company NortonLifeLock has just revealed its new name – Gen – following the merger of NortonLifeLock with Avast.

Gen Digital Inc brings together some of the biggest companies in cyber security including Norton, Avast, LifeLock, AVG, CCleaner and Reputation Defender.

“Today, five billion people around the world are online; digital life is life,” said Vincent Pilette, CEO of Gen.

“We’re all a part of a new generation, regardless of age. It’s not Gen X, Y or Z, it’s Generation Digital. Gen’s family of trusted brands has a heritage of protecting the first digital generations and is united by a shared purpose to power Digital Freedom for the next generation of our digital lives.

Gen President Ondrej Vlcek said: “Our day-to-day life is almost entirely connected; we bank, shop, learn, work and connect online.

“While the advancement of technology has brought conveniences and connections we couldn’t have imagined, it also brings added complexities and new types of threats.

“At Gen, we’re committed to bringing our passion, expertise and global presence together to innovatively tackle these challenges and ultimately power Digital Freedom for everyone.”

The Avast consumer brand, products and services will continue as part of Gen’s family of trusted, award-winning brands but there is no longer an Avast parent company.

Gen is the company name and legal entity and will operate as a multi-brand company with Norton, Avast, LifeLock, Avira, AVG, ReputationDefender and CCleaner still operating under those respective brands.

The nearly 500 million people customers of those brands, products and services today will continue to purchase and get the same protection they have been enjoying.

The only change is that the company name is changing from NortonLifeLock and Avast to Gen.

The name Gen comes from the word ‘Generation’ and was inspired by the linking of generations in the digital world.
