If you like getting busy in the garden and the backyard, Stihl has a new range of battery-powered products to help you get the job done quickly and efficiently.

Tech Guide looked at the Stihl GTA Garden Pruner Kit, the Stihl RMA 460 Battery Lawn Mower and the Stihl BGA 57 Battery Blower.

And being all battery-powered there’s no need to have any kind of liquid fuel hand.

That’s one thing that’s stopped some of our yard work in its tracks when we didn’t refill our can of two-stroke.

This is not an issue with the Stihl battery powered range of products.

We used the AK 30 battery ($230) which has a capacity of 180Wh and 36V voltage. On the front of the battery is a LED level indicator.

This was the battery we used to power the RMA 460 mower and the BGA 57 blower.

The Garden Pruner came with its own smaller battery and charger.

STIHL RMA 460 BATTERY LAWN MOWER – $529 (skin only – no battery)

We enjoy mowing but the part we don’t like is the shoulder dislocating start for a fuel mower.

That’s a thing of the past with the RMA 460 battery mover. To start it up pull up the lever near the top of the handle and press the start button and you’re off.

The battery slipped into the top of the mower below a transparent flap. There’s also room under the flap to store a second spare battery if you need to make a quick change.

Everything else about the mower was like a regular mower including the ability to adjust the height and the length and angle of the handle.

The RMA 460 is quite light thanks to the fact there’s no massive petrol engine onboard so it’s easy to move around the yard.

On the back is a 60L soft grass catcher, another contributor to the mower’s lighter weight, and it was easy to empty and reattach.

And the power and efficiency of the mower was never in question – it handled our long grass with ease.

We were told to take care hosing the blades – you don’t want to soak the electric motor under the hood – which we had to do once after missing one little present from our dalmatians that we wouldn’t see in the long grass.

The battery, when used with the mower, has a run time of about 30 minutes which was long enough for us to mow our average sized backyard and front yards and with enough juice left over to tidy things up with the BGA 57 blower.

STIHL GTA 26 GARDEN PRUNER KIT – $299

This is one tiny but might product from Stihl.

It looks like a tiny chainsaw but it’s official a handheld garden pruner and what a pruner it is.

The GTA 26 is also battery-powered, and the kit comes with a battery and its own charger along with oil for the chain and a handy storage case.

This is one product you need to exercise extra care when using it.

It required two-handed operation for it be used most efficiently.

Despite its handheld size, the GTA easily cut through branches more than 4cm in diameter.

We needed to cut back a few trees including a dying mango tree in our yard, and it was effortless cutting the lower branches.

The GTA 26 also made light work of pruning bushes and other smaller branches.

Now remember we emphasises two-handed operation – that’s really important.

One hand goes on the main handle and the other on top at the back of the unit to provide added stability especially when cutting through thicker branches.

Using this one-handed could be dangerous and bounce around while cutting.

The GTA 26 can through a finger as easily it can a branch, so you need to respect the power and use it safely.

On a full charge you get 30 minutes of use. And that’s not 30 minutes from when you start but 30 minutes made up of all the times you’re cutting branches.

STIHL BGA 57 BATTERY BLOWER – $329 (skin only – no battery)

To clean things up is there a better feeling than using a blower?

The Stihl BGA 57 takes the same battery as the RMA 460 mower and it was simply a case of transferring the battery into the back of the blower with a satisfying snap.

There was still a couple of bars of power from the four LEDs after we did the mowing which was more than enough power for the blower.

What surprised us was the power – we were blowing leaves from metres away which made the tidy up even faster for us.

It also has a nice balanced feel which makes it easier to use to target the debris you want to corral.

The blower tube has three length adjustments for users of different heights.

It also has a symmetrical trigger so it’s just as easy to use for a left hander and a right hander.

Dyson has turned its attention to lighting technology and applied the same engineering principles to make things work properly and better – and as a result they’ve released the Dyson Solarcycle Morph Desk Light.

The Dyson Solarcycle Morph Desk Light is the latest product in its lighting portfolio and can imitate daylight from dawn till dusk as well as delivering light in four different ways – indirect, direct for a task, as a feature light or as an ambient light.

And it can all be controlled via the MyDyson app.

“With the Dyson Solarcycle Morph, our aim was to challenge the fundamental conventions of contemporary artificial lighting and find a solution,” says Jake Dyson, Chief Engineer.

“So we developed a light that tracks natural day light and intelligently transforms for different uses – providing the right light, at the right time, precisely where it’s needed.”

The light has 360-degree manoeuvrability to provide the right kind of light when and where it’s needed.

The key feature of the Dyson Solarcycle Morph Desk is its ability to imitate natural light in different formats using Dyson’s daylight tracking algorithm add three warm and three cool LEDs.

This allows the Dyson Solarcycle Morph Desk to adjust its colour temperature and brightness in direct relation to the local daylight based on the user’s location.

As an indirect light, the Dyson Solarcycle Morph Desk has an intelligent optical head that can rotate 360-degrees and bounce light off walls, floor and ceiling.

As a task light, it provides a powerful light whether you’re working, spending time on your hobbies, applying makeup or any other task.

It emits a high intensity pool of light with a CRI colour-rendering index of 90 and above which is near daylight quality.

The Dyson Solarcycle Morph Desk Light can also be used as a feature light to create dramatic effects including highlighting art and other features in your home and can be precisely positioned using the three point revolve motion.

As an ambient light, it can create a comforting orange glow and, for the evening, also provide relaxation with reduced blue light.

The Dyson Solarcycle Morph Desk Light intelligent optical head produces uniform high quality light with low flicker.

The MyDyson app can also adjust the light based on your age.

According to Dyson’s own research, a 65 year old needs up to four times more light than a 20 year old and can provide the correct brightness based on your age when entered into the app.

Users can also access the preset modes which are: study, relax, precision, boost, wake up, sleep and away.

There are also manual controls with a slide touch dimming and colour temperature selection which allows users to create their own personal lighting preferences.

Users can pre-programme and assign names for up to 20 different light settings to suit their mood or the task at hand.

The Dyson Solarcycle Morph Desk Light is available from today in either white or silver and is priced at $899.

ECOVACS ROBOTICS has already established itself as a leader in robot vacuums and robot window cleaners but it is heading outdoors with the launch of the GOAT G1 – the company’s first robotic lawn mower.

Available from September 21, the GOAT G1 will incorporate a quarter of a century of robotics experience to deliver a mowing experience like no other.

Under the hood are a range of intelligent features and technologies which come in to play with wireless boundaries, navigation and obstacle avoidance.

Australia will be one of the first markets in the world to offer the GOAT G1 thanks to our early adoption of new technology and the fact we love the outdoors and many have decent sized yards.

“We know Australians love their gardens, and there is great pride by many in keeping them pristine,” said Karen Powell, Regional Director of Australia and New Zealand for ECOVACS ROBOTICS.

“We also know that, just with home cleaning, lawn maintenance can be a hard and laborious task that many don’t enjoy, or sometimes can’t perform themselves.

“As we have done with floor care and window cleaning, we are bringing new robotic innovation to the Australian outdoors for the first time, with the GOAT G1 exceeding the capabilities of existing robotic and manual lawnmowers by a substantial margin.

With its state-of-the-art features and cutting-edge precision and safety technologies, GOAT G1 epitomises our commitment to simplify and add further convenience and timesaving into our everyday lives.”

The GOAT G1 doesn’t need boundary cable that is cumbersome and time-consuming to set up.

Instead it will use ultra-wideband signal beacons which are placed like stakes around the edges of the lawn to set the limits for the mower’s path.

A 600 square metre yard will require between two and four beacons and GOAT G1 will never stray beyond these boundaries.

The GOAT G1 uses a combination of high precision GPS and dual cameras to familiarise itself with its environment and can achieve centimetre level accuracy.

AI can also help the robot lawnmower distinguish between your lawn and other areas of your yard where there is no grass.

Like a robot vacuum, the GOAT G1 has a charging station where it will automatically return if it needs a recharge before going to the precise spot where it left off.

Another feature the ECOVACS GOAT G1 inherited from its robot vacuum cousins is obstacle avoidance with the AIVI 3D technology which uses a 150-degree fisheye camera to detect and avoid objects in its path.

It can see objects as small as 3cm including pets, hoses and rocks.

With taller obstacles like trees and swing sets the GOAT G1 can calculate the distance and mow around them.

The GOAT G1 can also be controlled via the companion app and provide a view of the location of the lawnmower through the built in cameras.

The robot mower can even capture and mark the location of a human figure on the map and send it as a notification so it can act like your security camera as well.

The ECOVACS GOAT G1 will go on sale on September 21 and will be priced at $2,999. It will be available from JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Bing Lee, Robot Specialist, Bunnings (Online), Robot Lawn Mowers Australia (www.robotlawnmowers.com.au), Amazon & ECOVACS Online.

Dyson has taken a “go big or go home” approach with the Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde which can offer indoor purification in much larger rooms in your home.

The Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde has double the airflow of previous models at up to 87 litres per second of purified air that can be projected more than 10m away from the unit.

Dyson has always been educating customers about the need for cleaner air in our indoor spaces for our health and wellbeing.

“Poor indoor air quality is a much-ignored, growing issue. Our home environments can be filled with particle and gas pollution, be it pollen, pet dander, NO2, CO2, VOCs from cleaning products and more,” says Matt Jennings, Dyson Engineering Director – Environmental Care.

“Each of these particles can contribute to an unhealthy environment, causing potential health concerns.

“The Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde is our first purifier specifically engineered to purify properly in spaces up to 100 square metres.

“It blends highly effective filtration and powerful projection, with intelligence, to automatically respond to imperceptible pollution events.

“With new Cone Aerodynamics to project purified air over 10m, the Dyson

Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde can reach every corner of your living space.”

Dyson’s new cone aerodynamics uses the Coanda effect to combine two streams of air over a smooth surface with enough power to be sent more than 10 metres and with minimal noise.

This is double the air flow of the previous generation.

Dyson engineers have also come up with Breeze Mode which uses an algorithm to control the jet of air to oscillate in a motion that imitates a natural breeze.

The Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde has a three phase filtration process so it can rid your home of indoor air pollution that could include tobacco smoke, household cleaning products, building materials and outdoor air that may enter your home.

On top of that the unit can address other pollutants from within your household including formaldehyde, VOCS, NO2 and ozone.

The product has a sealed system that ensures only clean air is projected back into the room after it has been filtered.

The three filtration layers include the HEPA H13-grade particle filter which includes borosilicate microfibre that’s been pleated 459 times which, when unfolded, makes it 3.8 times larger than the previous model and the equivalent area of two king size beds.

Also on board is the new UK carbon filter which combats NO2 which can be produced from things like cooking or brought in from the outside. This filter also captures benzene and household odours.

The third filter is the Dyson Selective Catalytic Oxidation filter which is made up of billions of atom-sized tunnels which can breakdown formaldehyde molecules into water and CO2 before regenerating them with oxygen from the air.

The Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde is a decent sized unit, but it can be used at full speed without generating much noise.

Onboard is the Broadband Helmholtz silencer which is cavity shaped to trap sound energy and dissipate the noise.

It also has a labyrinth seal to control air circulation and reduced noisy swirls in the recycling air while the motor has been soft mounted within the compressor to minimise noise and vibrations.

The Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde has a range of integrated sensors that can monitor particle gas and formaldehyde levels so it could maintain your indoor air quality and even show you live results on the product’s LCD screen and within the MyDyson app.

A CO2 sensor has been incorporated for the first time with high levels indoors having the potential to affect our health and well-being.

The sensor can accurately report when CO2 levels go above recommended levels and prevent you from breathing in that stale air.
Usually a product like this will be tested in a small chamber of 12 square metres with one sensor.

But this time Dyson created a 100 square metre test chamber at its Hullavington campus and equipped it with 36 sensors to measure the Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde’s ability to claim the equivalent of a large open plan living space.

This testing proved the unit could perform optimally in a real world setting.

The Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet Formaldehyde is available now in Bright Nickel Satin/Dark Blue and is priced at $1,499.

The Dyson exclusive model in Satin Dark Blue/Gold is priced at $1,599.

Dyson has also updated its range of purifiers to suit all room types and introduced three new purifiers – the Dyson Purifier Cool Gen 1, the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool Gen 1 and the Dyson Purifier Cool Formaldehyde.

Samsung has expanded its Bespoke home appliances into a cooking range which offer AI and wi-fi connectivity to simplify and speed up meal preparation.

Announced at IFA 2023 in Berlin, the new Samsung line-up includes ovens, cook tops, range hoods and dishwashers which are both functional and stylish.

The launch comes at a time when 66 per cent of Australians are choosing to cook more at home rather than eating out to save money.

The products are powered by Samsung’s SmartThings connectivity which allows users to take their cooking to another level thanks to innovative features, advanced technology and AI.

“We’re thrilled to bring further innovation to the kitchen, and for many, the heart of the home with Samsung’s new Cooking range,” said Jeremy Senior, Vice President, Consumer Electronics at Samsung Australia.

“As Australians increasingly seeks time-efficiencies, our aim is to continually evolve to meet consumers’ changing needs, by having multiple touchpoints within the home.

“With the launch of Samsung Cooking, we’re proud to facilitate a one brand connected home experience in Australia, and with that, play a role in redefining culinary exploration as Australians embrace the digital chef era.

“From remote monitoring and cooking through to recipe recommendation and meal planning, Australian households are set to experience culinary innovation with AI technology.”

Key Samsung Cooking range features will include:

 – Wi-Fi Connected: Users can remotely monitor and control their oven, cooktop and range hood from their smartphone – whether it be to pre-heat on the way home, through to auto-cook settings from the comfort of their couch.

– AI Pro Cooking: A built-in camera powered by AI can ensure end-to-end professional quality cooking. You can even share a timelapse of your cook.

– Dual Cook Flex: Some oven models will include two compartments that can be set to two different temperatures, as well as when multi-cooking a flexible door means one zone can be checked without interrupting the other  – providing both time and energy efficiencies (when only using the top half).

– Samsung Food: Also available from today, Samsung will launch Samsung Food, a personalised, AI-powered food and recipe app, to support Australians plan their weekly meals. Samsung Food will offer more than 160,000 recipes, acting as a personal assistant that helps Australians discover new dishes, create tailored meal plans and order ingredients online. The service will also help users control their cooking appliances and access to guided cooking experiences.

The Samsung built-in cooking range will go on sale in Australia from October 29, 2023, across www.samsung.com/au and selected retail partner stores including Harvey Norman and The Good Guys.

ECOVACS is literally changing the shape of robot floor cleaning with the new DEEBOT X2 OMNI which was unveiled at the IFA 2023 tech trade show in Berlin.

The biggest change with the DEEBOT X2 OMNI is that the usually round robot vacuum is now square.

ECOVACS says this change has been made to improve the cleaning efficiency when vacuuming and mopping.

It’s also quite compact at 9.5cm high with a width of 32cm so it can in tight spaces like under beds, sofas and other furniture.

One reason is the is so slim is the integration of semi solid-state Lidar which is integrated into the chassis of the unit. This helps the robot navigate your home.

An area that’s been greatly improved is the suction at 8,000pa with 60 per cent more power than the previous model and all the while still managing to have the same low noise level.

Also included with the DEEBOT X2 OMNI is all-in-one auto empty station that can wash the mop pads with 55-degree hot water and dry them again with hot air.

That station also empties the dust container and refills the robot’s tank with clean water. This makes the whole experience a simple hands-off experience.

On the navigation side the DEEBOT X2 OMNI using machine learning to find its way around your home and create an efficient cleaning path.

It has improved 3D mapping technology so the robot can get around your home and remember where the furniture is in each room.

Also onboard is the YIKO 2.0 voice assistant so you can operate the unit just by talking to it.

The DEEBOT X2 OMNI has faster response times and higher detection sensitivity which results in better navigation, planning and positioning.

The DEEBOT X2 OMNI will go on sale in Australia in the coming months with pricing to be announced shortly before the release date.

DEEBOT NEO includes some flagship features included on the more expensive models including TrueMapping laser-based mapping and navigation technology so it can efficiently find its way around your home to vacuum and mop.

The robot can also be monitored and controlled through the companion app and it’s also compatible with Google Home and Amazon Alexa so it can become part of your smart home.

Other Key Features:

– Compatible with Auto-Empty Station: Available separately, the ECOVACS Auto-Empty Station can hold the dust and hair collected for up to 30 days, dramatically reducing the need to frequently clean the dustbin. Enjoy your home being cleaned for weeks with ease.

– Mapping of several levels: Scan and store multiple maps of different floors of your home. The robot will customise its cleaning path once identifying which map it is in. You can also customise which room you’d like the robot to clean on each floor.

Maps can be stored and individually adapted – with functions including Virtual Boundary, which limits the robotic vacuum cleaner’s operating area.

Dyson’s Zone noise-cancelling headphones and air purifier – first unveiled in March last year – has now gone on sale in Australia starting at $999.

Dyson, a company best known for its powerful cordless vacuums and hair care products, has taken its first step into the competitive audio space.

But when you think about it – producing good audio is all about pushing air around inside a speaker – and Dyson knows a thing or two about air movement with its motors and highly-engineered products.

The Dyson Zone noise-cancelling headphones offers up to 50 hours of listening and high quality audio thanks to its low distortion drivers and advanced active noise cancellation.

Dyson engineers have taken a scientific approach with sound reproduction measurements, harmonic distortion and frequency response rather than extensive user testing like the existing audio companies.

Onboard the Dyson headphones are 11 microphones – eight of these are used to reduce ambient sound by up to 38dB by monitoring your surrounds 384,000 times per second.

The electroacoustic system is made up of 40mm and 16 ohm neodymium speakers which have a wide frequency range to allow accurate sound reproduction between 6hz and 21Hz, so you don’t miss a single note.

Intelligent signal processing equalises the output 48,000 times per second and neutralises distortion, so they are inaudible over the entire frequency range.

On the design side, the Dyson Zone headphones have comfort pads on the headband and earcups which can adapt to the shape of the users head and ears.

But not only can the Dyson Zone headphones reduce noise pollution it can also tackle air pollution as well.

Users can equip the headphones with a visor to stream purified air into your nose and mouth when moving through polluted areas.

Dyson has leaned into its deep understanding of airflow, filtration and indoor and outdoor air quality and have developed a system for the headphones.

There are compressors in each earcup that draw air through double-layered filters before projecting two purified air streams to the user’s nose and mouth.

The MyDyson app can be used to monitor and control the headphones with the ability to adjust audio settings as well as keeping an eye on air quality levels.

The Dyson Zone noise-cancelling headphones are available now from Dyson Demo Stores or via dyson.com.au.

The Dyson Zone Absolute+ limited edition headphones in Prussian blue/bright copper include the headphones, Explorer case, 4x filters, visor cleaning brush, visor sleeve, soft pouch, USB-C and in-flight adaptor kit. It is priced at $1,099.

The Dyson Zone limited edition headphones in Prussian blue/dark blue and includes the headphones, Quarter turn case, 2x filters, visor cleaning brush, visor sleeve, USB-C. It is priced at $999.

ECOVACS has launched the DEEBOT T20 Omni, the latest addition to the family of dual vacuuming and mopping robots that can take over your home cleaning duties.

The T20 Omni includes flagship features like Auto Mop Lifting and Hot Water Mop Washing to deliver an even better and smarter clean than ever before.

This is also the first DEEBOT to include 6000Pa suction power with the 5200mAh battery which can handle up to four hours of cleaning on a single charge.

Also included is the Omni station for the first time outside of the X1 Omni model.

The station can empty the dust bin and wash and dry the mop pads as it’s recharging.

ECOVACS has partnered with Australian Olympian Jana Pittman – the first Australian woman to compete in both the summer and winter Olympic Games before becoming a doctor while at the same time helping to raise six children.

“Our amazing new DEEBOT T20 OMNI from ECOVACS we nicknamed ‘bestie’, because it is just that ….. a mum’s best friend,” Pittman said.

“It quickly mapped the house and now quietly speeds around devouring and mopping all the kid and pet mess. Such a blessing.”

The DEEBOT T20 Omni includes the OZMO TURBO 2.0 rotating mopping system which can tackle even the toughest floor stains with up to 99.99 per cent success.

The system works by applying consistent pressure onto the floor while the rotating mopping pads do their thing to remove marks and stains and leave your floors looking spotless and fresh.

And thanks to the Auto Lift Mopping Technology the T20 Omni can effortlessly switch between hard floor and carpet cleaning thanks to an ultrasonic sensor that can detect carpets instantly and raise the mop pads out of the way.

When it switches to vacuuming mode it increases suction power to remove dust hidden deep in the carpet pile.

The Omni station offers a hands free cleaning experience.

On top of washing the mop pads, it also has hot air drying to prevent any moisture, bacteria or odours while also auto emptying the dustbin into the stations 3L dust bag so you don’t have to lift a finger for up to 75 days.

Also onboard is Housekeeper Mode which can intelligently adjust its cleaning pattern and offer deeper cleaning if it detects the house hasn’t been cleaned in a few days.

The DEEBOT T20 Omni also comes with ECOVACS TrueDetect 3D 3.0 Obstacle Avoidance Technology which can scan and detect objects like toys, socks and cables in its path in real time and navigate around them.

The TrueMapping 2.0 technology allows the unit to map your home precisely in just a few minutes to create an accurate cleaning path in your home.

The YIKO AI voice assistant let you interact with the DEEBOT with your voice and you can easily tell it to complete tasks including mopping, vacuuming a specific area, or returning to the charger or auto cleaning.

“As the global leaders in home service robotics, we pride ourselves on constantly raising the bar with each product launch,” says Karen Powell, ECOVACS Regional Director for Australia and New Zealand.

“With our new DEEBOT T20 OMNI we have added new functionality with Hot-Water Mop Washing and Auto-Lifting of Mop Pads, and increased our suction such that it sits alongside our industry-leading OMNI station, YIKO AI Voice Assistant, battery runtime, mopping system and object avoidance technology to deliver a product at under $1800 that we believe is like no one else in the market.”

The DEEBOT T20 OMNI is available now with a recommended retail price of $1,799.

It is available instore at select JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Godfreys and Bing Lee stores, and online from JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Godfreys, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Robot Specialist, Amazon, eBay, or ECOVACS.com/au.

LG has unveiled the Duobo – its first capsule coffee machine – to make it even easier to brew good coffee and with a futuristic design that looks out of this world.

Introduced by LG Labs, Duobo includes a dual-capsule extraction system for two shot layered blending to give users a chance to create their own blends.

On the design side, the LG Duobo looks like space capsule has just landed on your kitchen bench.

It has three legs that look like landing gear supporting the capsule brewing compartment.

In fact, LG chose July 20 as the launch date for Duobo to commemorate the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969.

The Duobo companion app offers complete control with the ability to adjust temperature and pressure to your taste.

And the machine is compatible with capsules from various brands so customers have a wide choice of blends and strengths.

It also has a full HD display which is where users can see Duobo’s exclusive animations and other coffee-related content.

To mark the launch of the Duobo, LG Labs teamed up with the best baristas in the world at the US Barista Championships at The Lost Draft Cafe in the trendy Soho district of New York City.

“DUOBO is truly an innovative product, redefining the entire coffee experience from the art of crafting and savouring the perfect cup to establishing meaningful connections with our valued customers,” said Lee Hyang-eun, managing director of the Customer Experience Innovation Division at LG Electronics.

ECOVACS DEEBOT N8

ECOVACS DEEBOT N8 – RRP $699, Now on sale for $399 (43% OFF). Available on Amazon Australia.

Meet your new handyman, the DEEBOT N8 has TrueMapping Technology and the OZMO Mopping System. This powerful device proves you don’t have to spend huge money to enjoy the benefits of a robot vacuum. It has 2300Pa suction power that we found was good enough to vacuum our dalmatians’ short white hairs off our chocolate coloured carpet. And despite the power of the suction you’ll find the unit is also surprisingly quiet while its TrueMapping navigation technology uses laser-based mapping technology to accurately map your home in seconds.

With the companion app you can control and monitor the machine and customise your clean with virtual boundaries or schedules. And the OZMO Mopping System does all the hard work to clean your entire home without any stops to top up the water tank. The carpet detection means that it will avoid carpeted areas when mopping (or increase suction when just vacuuming). The N8 is compatible with smart speakers for handy hands-off controls by simply asking your robot to clean or use the smartphone app for personalised cleaning and scheduled control.

ECOVACS DEEBOT T10 Plus

ECOVACS DEEBOT T10 PLUS – RRP $1,799, Now on sale for $1099 (39% OFF). Available on Amazon Australia.

This robotic vacuum is here to be the workhorse of the home delivering power and convenience with every clean. It powerfully vacuums and mops in a single pass with 4300Pa suction power and boasts a whopping 5+ hour run time.

While a sub-$1,000 model, the DEEBOT N10 still combines the advanced mapping, app control, and smart speaker connectivity that ECOVACS love. Newly redesigned antibacterial dust bags and filters included offer additional benefits for hypoallergenic and scent-free homes across Australia.

ECOVACS DEEBOT X1 Turbo

ECOVACS DEEBOT X1 TURBO – RRP $2,099, Now on sale for $1299 (38% OFF). Available on Amazon Australia.

The X1 Turbo is ideal for households with tiles and floorboards. The DEEBOT X1 TURBO and its included auto-cleaning docking station takes the overall mopping experience to the next level. Equipped with the latest tech features such as the superior 5000Pa strong suction power and OZMO Turbo 2.0 Rotating Mopping System, this dual mop and vacuum smart robot ensures that floors are cleaning efficiently with no stains remaining, as it undertakes a four stage deep cleaning system.

Featuring the industry’s most advanced technologies such as AIVI 3D Technology and TrueMapping technology, this smart vacuum can also avoid obstacles and precisely map out and navigate one’s floor plans in real time. To further round off the beautifully timeless Jacob Jensen Design of the DEEBOT X1 TURBO, ECOVACS’ built-in YIKO voice assistant allows for a unique, personalised and immersive experience to be generated without the use of other smart assistants.

This powerful robot vacuum has an impressive cleaning performance boasting ultra-high 2300Pa suction power and a surprisingly low noise level. The TrueMapping navigation technology uses direct time of flight laser-based mapping technology to create a fast and accurate map of your home in seconds – within the app, you can then customise your clean with virtual boundaries or schedules.

The OZMO Mopping System can efficiently clean the whole house without the need for repeated stops to top up the water tank – and carpet detection means that it will avoid carpeted areas when mopping (or increase suction when just vacuuming). Compatible with your favourite smart speaker, experience convenient, hands-off controls by simply asking your robot to clean or use the smartphone app for personalised cleaning and scheduled control. Also included is the Auto-Empty that can hold a month’s worth of dust and dirt, so you don’t have to empty it every time!

Dyson has released its Gen5outsize cordless vacuum that’s been designed to deliver a bigger clean thanks to a larger cleaner head, a larger bin and a swappable battery.

The Gen5outsize builds on the technology and performance of the Dyson Gen5detect and had been re-designed for wider and longer cleaning period.

The Gen5outsize has a 25 per cent wider cleaner head, a 150 per cent larger dust bin and a cleaning time of up to 70 minutes.

Under the hood is the fifth generation Hyperdymium motor with 250 air watts of suction power which can collect larger debris all the way down to microscopic dust.

The motor is smaller yet more powerful spinning at 135,000 RPM – that’s nine times faster than a Formula One engine.

The machine is fully sealed with a whole-machine HEPA filtration system that can trap 99.99 per cent of particles as small as diesel soot.

It has a re-engineered Fluffy Optic cleaner head that can find twice as much microscopic dust on hard floors thanks to its increased brightness and range so you can see exactly where you need to clean.

The Dyson Gen5outsize also introduces a new user interface showing in real time when the surface is clean while the piezo sensor can count and classify the particle type and size and show when that area is clean.

The larger bin has a 1.9 litre capacity which is 150 per cent larger than the Dyson Gen5detect so users can clean longer.

The vacuum also has a replaceable battery which allows the user to keep one on charge and swap out the battery mid clean so you can have up to 70 minutes of run time.

The Dyson Gen5outsize cordless vacuum cleaner is available now from Dyson.com.au and selected retailers and is priced at $1,649.

Samsung has revealed his 2023 Bespoke AI laundry range which includes and AI Washer and Dryer and the new mirror finish AirDresser.

Samsung’s 2023 Bespoke laundry range offers not only intelligent laundry solutions but also large capacities, efficiency and stunning design.

They provide smart home convenience through SmartThings so you can access automated features that can streamline a customer’s daily routines.

“Our new Bespoke AI Laundry range uses AI innovation to learn your usage patterns and provide recommendations to help care for your clothes and reduce your mental load,” said Jeremy Senior, Vice President-Consumer Electronics, Samsung Australia.

“The new laundry line-up embodies Samsung’s broader Bespoke Home commitment to make Australian homes more personal and intuitively functional, to ultimately add convenience to your everyday life.

“In applying SmartThings, Samsung unlocks another level of value and convenience beyond the laundry, by helping to monitor the energy output of compatible devices, schedule chores to suit your routine, and make eco-conscious decisions.”

Samsung ‘s Bespoke range is designed to be both stylish and functional and blend into your home’s décor.

SAMSUNG BESPOKE AI WASHER AND DRYER

The new Samsung front load AI Washer and Dryer have built in intelligence, including SmartThings Energy and SmartThings Clothing Care, to learn individual usage patterns and offer personalise automation based on their lifestyle, routines and preferences.

The front load washer range offers BubbleWash which transforms detergent into bubbles that is quickly absorbed into the laundry at cooler temperatures.

This technology helps the Bespoke AI washer achieve a five-star energy rating across all its capacities – 9kg, 12kg and 18kg.

Energy usage can also be reduced with AI Wash Cycle that completes your wash using less water.

It does this by detecting the weight and softness of the fabric in each load while monitoring the ongoing soil level of the laundry.

It also adjusts the amount of water and detergent needed and finds the right soaking, rinsing and spinning times.

The Samsung Bespoke AI Dryer also includes intelligent energy saving options thanks to the onboard heat pump technology for an energy efficient and cost effective way to dry your clothes.

The dryer has a nine-star energy rating across its 9kg, 10kg and 12kg models.

The AI Dry technology is constantly monitoring temperature and humidity while tweaking the settings to ensure the load is optimally dried without wasting energy.

The unit also recycles warm air to help reduce its overall running costs.

SAMSUNG BESPOKE AIRDRESSER

The Samsung 2023 Bespoke AirDresser can keep clothes fresh and sanitised using air and steam to remove up to 99.9 per cent of bacteria and dust mites from fabric.

The AirDresser can fit up to five pairs of pants or five jackets and now includes a new area to freshen long dresses and more clothes at once.

The cycle takes as little as 20 minutes with 24 cycles optimised for different fabrics.

The unit has wi-fi connectivity to bring it into the same SmartThings platform as Samsung’s other appliances.

And the unit now also offers an elegant crystal mirror finish design.

LG has launched a range of new appliances and entertainment products that are a huge departure from boring looks and plain hues with rich new colours and eye-catching designs.

The company hosted a House of Colour event this week to demonstrate the possibilities and colour combinations that can complement your home’s décor and style.

They set up a kitchen, lounge room and a laundry to showcase the products as they could appear in your home to add a dash of bold colour.

“The modern Australian home has become an extension of the individual, and we are increasingly guided by our own unique personal tastes when it comes to selecting appliances and entertainment products for our homes,” says Gemma Lemieux, Marketing Director at LG Electronics Australia.

“Our three core philosophies around customer experience, human-centric innovation and warmth to power a smile, have come to life in our 2023 product line up by elevating experiences in the home through the convergence of cutting-edge technology and moments of personalisation and playfulness.

“At LG, we recognise Australians have faced challenging times over the last few years and are looking for ways to become uplifted at home.

“Our House of Colour event brings moments of joy and elevates the at-home experience.

“We want to showcase how our products cater to the growing consumer trend of redesigning spaces that reflect unique tastes, inspiring Australians to design a home for you, by you, with LG.”

In the kitchen set-up was the LG InstaView refrigerator with MoodUP LED colour panels with the LG StanbyME lifestyle TV.

Each section on the refrigerator is an LED panel so you can change the colours via the LG ThinQ app to suit your mood of style.

There are more than 170,000 colour combinations from 22 colour choices for the upper door panels and 19 colours for the lower door panels.

There are also themes including Season, Place, Mood and Pop.

The panels can be changed to a colour to match the walls, the bench tops or the kitchen cupboard doors. The limit is your imagination.

You can take it even further with the built-in Bluetooth speaker so you can make the colours on the fridge match the mood and beat of the music.

The LG StanbyME lifestyle TV is a mobile battery-powered TV that can be wheeled and positioned anywhere in your home.

It has a 27-inch full HD display which can run all your streaming and social media apps and browse the web.

The screen can also be twisted into portrait and landscape to enjoy your content in all its forms.

In the lounge room set up was another LG lifestyle OLED TV – LG Pose which looks like a piece furniture because it has its own stand and looks good from all angles.

It doesn’t have the angular look and colours of a regular TV – it has curved edges and a muted beige hue.

And being a 55-inch OLED you also get stunning picture quality and bright natural colour.

Also in the room was the LG OLED Easel which is designed to lean against the wall at a slight angle with a fabric cover designed by Danish textile innovator Kvadrat.

This cover can be lowered to provide a full view of the 65-inch OLED evo screen for a high quality viewing experience.

And when you’ve finished your movie or TV show, the fabric cover hides most of the screen rather than having a large black rectangle on display.

Alternatively users can display works of art of your personal photo collection on the panel.

Moving to the washroom, LG has the Washtower on display – this is a combined washing machine and dryer in a single unit with Forest Green and Beige options along with a Black Steel finish.

They offer a more compact design with shorter height and narrower widths to offer flexibility where they are placed in your home whether it’s in a laundry or in an open space.

Also in the room was the LG Styler – a closet that can freshen up shirts and pants between washes.

LG Styler is now also available in Forest Green or with a mirror door.

Also in the washroom was the LG CordZero handstick vacuum, also now available in Forest Green, which has an empty station stand for the vacuum with room to store all the attachments.

The latest LG CordZero now includes the new Power Drive mop with a built-in generator to supply hot water to the mop pads.

The full LG 2023 home appliance, home entertainment and IT range includes:

Dyson has unveiled its latest product – the Dyson 360 Vis Nav – a robot vacuum with a similar motor that’s found on its popular cordless products to provide six times more suction of any other robot vacuum on the market.

Seven years in the making, the Dyson 360 Viz Nav uses a 360-degree vision system to navigate its way around your home and sense the areas that need to be cleaned.

There are 26 sensors aboard the robot which help the device detect dust, avoid obstacles and detect walls and furniture.

“A robot vacuum cleaner should not be a novelty. We know there are many frustrations with current robot vacuum cleaners – some have low suction power, or inefficient navigation systems which means that they often get stuck and don’t do a proper job of vacuuming,” says Dyson chief engineer Jake Dyson.

“Dyson engineers have focused on developing machines that overcome these challenges and which increasingly anticipate our needs, understand its environment and operate autonomously.”

At the heart of the system is the Dyson Hyperdymium motor that works at 110,000rpm to offer six times the suction of any other robot vacuum.

All robot vacuum cleaners have a circular shape, but Dyson has designed the 360 Viz Nav with a flat front edge to house the triple action cleaning brush which is slightly wider than the brush on its cordless vacuums.

The triple action brush bar takes advantage of that deep suction and combines three ways to clean – soft fluffy nylon for large debris on hard floors, antistatic carbon fibre filaments for fine dust pickup on hard floors and stiff nylon bristles to go deeper into carpets.

The brush is also pet friendly thanks to its wide diameter which reduces tangling.

It also has a Piezo sensor which can detect and react to the changes in the dust levels as it’s performing its cleaning run.

This sensor monitors dust levels 15,000 times a second and can detect particles that are invisible to the human eye and automatically increase suction when needed.

One complaint with robot vacuums is that they don’t get right to the edges and that is something that Dyson has addressed with the 360 Viz Nav.

When it’s time to clean near the wall, the Dyson extends a side actuator to pick up the dust from the edge and direct it towards the suction.

To get around your home the Dyson 360 Viz Nav users the Dyson Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) technology which can quickly map and remember where it has been in your home.

It uses a 360 degree fisheye lens which gives the robot vacuum a panoramic view of the inside of your home to work out its surroundings.

The robot has a dual link suspension system so it can climb up to 21mm between hard floors and carpeted areas and is small enough to fit under furniture up to 99mm in height.

The Dyson 360 Viz Nav also has a whole machine HEPA filtration system which traps dust and seals in 99.99 per cent of particles.

The vacuum has four cleaning modes including Auto Mode which can automatically optimise suction and power, Quick Mode for a quick top up clean in open areas, Quiet Mode for quite a cleans that run longer and Boost Mode where maximum suction is used for a deeper clean.

And when it’s time to empty the bin it’s a simple one handed action to activate the ejection mechanism to push out the dirt into the garbage.

abignell

The Dyson 360 Viz Nav also works seamlessly with the MyDyson app which allows users to create and customise zones and schedule cleaning times.

Users can also control the robot vacuum with their voice.

The app also provides deep cleaning reports and shows you dust maps so you can easily see the dust hot spots in your home where increased suction was needed.

The MyDyson app will also provide regular over-the-air software updates for the robot vacuum so customers can receive the latest functionality and additional features.

The Dyson 360 Viz Nav will be available from May 25 and will be priced at $2,399.

It will be available from dyson.com.au and Dyson demo stores.

Stay tuned to Tech Guide for a complete review in the coming weeks.
