GME launches Personal Locator Beacon for campers and outdoor enthusiasts

For those who love the great outdoors and enjoy camping, bushwalking or 4WD exploring – a new device has been released by Australian company GME to keep them safe and locatable in the event of an emergency.

Australians love exploring our beautiful country and often that’s outside the range of our mobile networks so if something happens you can’t just dial 000.

The Australian made GME MT610 Personal Locator Beacon is an essential product for anyone who likes exploring the most remote parts of Australia.

Many people are unaware that our current cellular networks might be within reach of 99 per cent of the population but only 14 per cent of the Australian landmass.

The GME GPS PLB, when activated, uses a 72-channel GPS receiver to transmit your location and alert rescue services within 15 minutes and with a location accuracy of less than 150m.

Once activated the PLB will transmit for 24 hours.

The unit is small enough to fit in palm of your hand and is also quite lightweight so it’s easy to pack it along with your other gear.

The GME MT610G PLB has an IP68 rating which means its waterproof and can withstand being submerged at a depth of 10m for up to an hour.

And if the PLB does end up in the water – it will float.

From the date of manufacture (which is marked on the bottom of the device) the PLB has a seven-year battery life.

Unlike every other product we buy – this is one device customers hope they will never have to use but something they need. It could save their life.

The GME MT610 Personal Locator Beacon is available now and is priced at $379.
