The new DJI FPV drone offers a truly immersive flying experience

Leading drone manufacturer DJI has released its latest drone – the DJI FPV – which can offer a truly immersive flying experience and capture 4K at 60 frames per second through the super wide 150-degree field of view.

FPV is short for first person view with the drone’s camera able to face forward so you can capture enjoy a unique new angle.

And with the included DJI FPV Goggles V2 which can be worn while flying the drone – it will feel like you’re flying.

But a note for Australian customers – our drone laws require pilots to have a line of sight view of their craft so you’ll need to have an observer on hand if you or the observer wants to wear the goggles.

The drone itself has a sleek aerodynamic design with short prop arms with front LEDS on each leg which you can customise to any colour.

This DJI’s first FPV drone so this looks a lot different to its other models.

The camera is mounted on a one-axis gimbal with a wide 150-degree field of view so you can take in a lot more when you’re flying it.

This allows the pilot to see even more of their surroundings and provides the option for taking the DJI FPV to places where you’ve never considered flying including through forests, near cliffs and through structures.

The camera has RockSteady EIS technology so smooth out your videos no matter how radically the drone is manoeuvred.

Video is transmitted back from the drone to the app and/or goggles in high definition at up to 120fps so you can enjoy a smooth flying experience.

There are three flight modes for the DJI FPV so it can be flown confidently by anyone no matter their skill level whether they are a beginner to experienced professional.

There are S Mode, a hybrid flight mode which offers the freedom of flying with the simplified controls of previous drones; N Mode, designed for new users which combines traditional controls with all the safety sensors and features and M Mode which offers unlimited control and the complete FPV experience and capturing footage like never before.

In M Mode it possible to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just two seconds.

The DJI FPV comes with a traditional controller but pilots can also purchase a new DJI Motion Controller which lets you control the drone with natural hand movements.

On the safety side there’s Emergency Brake and Hover which, at the press of a button, stops the drone in its tracks and hovers in place.

There’s also the well-known RTH (return to home) feature which will bring the drone back to the point of take-off automatically when this mode is engaged.

The DJI FPV also has forward and downward obstacle avoidance sensors to keep the drone safe even when flying at high speeds.

The DJI FPV has a flight time of 20 minutes with the 44.4Wh 2000mAh battery which supports a built-in intelligent battery management system.

The DJI FPV is priced at $2,099 which includes the drone, a controller, a battery and the DJI FPV Goggles V2.

Customers can also purchase the DJI Motion Controller for $229 and the DJI FPV Fly More Kit, which includes two batteries and a charging hub, for $429.
