Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro is inspired by its iconic flip phone released 20 years ago

Samsung has released a limited edition Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro which draws its inspiration from the SGH-E700 which set the tone for stylish flip phones when it was released 20 years ago.

In 2003, the SGH-E700 was the ground-breaking device and was Samsung’s first flip phone to include an internal antenna.
This device was hugely popular and set the ball rolling to help advance Samsung in the growing mobile phone industry at that time.

Samsung also went on to design other popular mobile devices including the MP3 phone (SPH-M2500) in 1999 which was followed by the watch phone (SPH-WP10), the TV phone (SCH-M220) and the camera phone (SCH-V200).

Each of these products were praised for their innovation and, at that time, was proving what was possible in the mobile space.

The new Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro will be available in limited quantities in Korea, UK, France, Germany, Spain and Australia through Samsung’s website.

Flip5 Retro includes distinctive features of the SGH-E700 including the iconic combination of indigo blue and silver.

Samsung has also redesigned the user interface and reinterpreted the 2000s pixel graphics and an exclusive animation on the Flex window.

Included in the package will be three Flipsuit cards which include logos from different eras of Samsung’s history, a Flipsuit case and a collector card engraved with a unique serial number which will add to the collectability for customers.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro will be available in Australia from November 1 and will be priced at $1949.
